Location: Vontovorona (MADAGASCAR)
Start of Project: School year 2013/2014
Beneficiaries: children and young people from dysfunctional families with few resources.
Description: We provide education and good nutrition for children and adolescents at the Mandrosoa Educational Centre (MEC) in Vontovorona. Yamuna serves almost 850 meals a day. There are 70 places between the nursery and kindergarten and 260 places between the primary and the secondary. Children and adolescents come to the MEC to complete the compulsory half-day public school where the educational level is very precarious.
At the MEC, children receive tutoring, do sports and plastic art activities. The parents of these children and adolescents are involved in the proper functioning of MEC. They participate in the preparation of meals and come once a month for the school’s maintenance, attend lectures on the importance of education and training and to share a meal with the teachers. More than 400 children have benefited from MEC.
