Location: Vontovorona (MADAGASCAR)
Project start: School year 2014/2015
Beneficiaries: Women and youth in situations of social exclusion.
Description: We started vocational training for young people and adults to enable them to work in good conditions and to generate the necessary economic resources to live with dignity and improve their living conditions. Women are often more interested in training because they are the most marginalized in the society while being the ones taking care of family members. They lack education and training to get work stability. Indeed, before the access to training, women only found sporadic one-day jobs that could not guarantee a stable income to feed their children every day. The work could vary between clothes washing, transportation of bricks, etc.
Since its launch, the project was able to train 58 women and young adults in ecological agriculture and sewing. In addition, there is increasing demand from young people to have access to the training. With more funds we could offer this training to more adults.
