NGO helping children in India and Madagascar Facebook Twitter YouTube

Location: Vontovorona and several suburbs of the capital Antananarivo (MADAGASCAR)

Project start: April 2005

Beneficiaries: Children and women living in extreme poverty in the slums of Antananarivo or around Vontovorona.

Description: In Malagasy families from marginal areas, women are most often the support of the whole family and ensure its survival. However, their status, their socio-cultural environment and existing development mechanisms limit their opportunities. This hampers the development and accelerates their marginalization, taking with them their children.

Thanks to Yamuna’s program, each case is individually analyzed in order to give specific support to each beneficiary. Regarding young people without families, Yamuna offers accommodation that serves as temporary base to help them start an independent life. Yamuna has, until today, helped 300 people, women and children in extreme poverty.
