Project start: November 2008
Beneficiaries: The beneficiaries are mostly uneducated single mothers living in extreme poverty and their children. The ability to have a stable and dignified employment should enable them to beself-reliant.
Description: Yamuna created a women's cooperative named VEHIVAVY MIHAVOTRA (women fighting for change). The goal is to expand the productive potential of women, especially of women that are alone to support the family and thus depend entirely on her income.
Through the cooperative, founded in 2009, we encourage activities that generate money through fair trade. Yamuna provides them with: training, workshops, machines (sewing machines, etc.), tools, agricultural parcels and social housing for women. The cooperative gives work to 25 women, divided into three branches: sewing, crafts and agriculture.
